Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Haylau Apps handles information for the Handicap Calculator & Tracker mobile application and the public website on Firebase Hosting and connected custom domains.

What we collect

• Solo: No sign-in is required. Courses, players, rounds, handicaps, and basic stats normally stay on your device. Manual Export and Restore are available; Solo has no automatic cloud backup. If you export data, you choose where the exported file goes.
• Groups: Authenticated V5 Groups use Google or Apple sign-in. Existing legacy Groups can continue syncing without provider sign-in; installing V5 does not automatically migrate them. Group players, courses, rounds, and related data are stored in Google Firebase Firestore for cloud sync across devices. A Group may contain one person or several. Firebase UID is the account identity used by Golf; an email address is not the authoritative Golf identity. Group data may include player names and optional email addresses.
• Minimal usage information: Golf may send limited information to help us understand whether the app is used and how many genuine rounds are completed. Anonymous installation activity uses a random, opaque installation identifier and recent activity time and UTC day. It does not attach player names, scores, courses, email addresses, Group IDs, or Firebase UIDs. Completed-round records contain only the minimum needed to count completed rounds and avoid duplicates, without player, course, or score details.
• Signed-in Group activity: Limited account activity may be recorded by Firebase UID and Group ID so we can measure active Group use. This account activity is linked to an account and is not anonymous.
• Contact: If you email us, we receive your email address and the contents of your message so we can respond.

Website data

The site is a static website hosted on Firebase Hosting. Standard technical logs such as IP address, browser type, timestamp, and requested URL may be processed to operate and secure the service. By default, the site does not load analytics cookies unless you accept the cookie banner.

Analytics (optional)

If you accept analytics on the site, Google Analytics 4 may be used to understand visits such as page views, approximate region, and device or browser types. We do not enable Google Ads features.

How we use information

• Provide and improve the app and site.
• Provide Group features and cloud sync when you choose Group mode.
• Understand app use and completed-round counts from limited usage records.
• Respond to support requests and inquiries.
• Maintain security and prevent abuse.

Data retention

• On device: App data stays on your device until you delete it, reset local data, or uninstall the app.
• Group and cloud data: Group data is stored in Firestore. The in-app “Delete group for everyone” action marks the Group deleted and removes access; it does not immediately erase every cloud record. Contact us if you want remaining cloud data removed.
• Usage information: Minimal usage records may be kept in Firebase to show usage trends, prevent duplicate round counts, and help diagnose problems. Older raw usage records may be removed after they have been summarised.
• Support messages: Emails are kept only as long as needed to resolve your request and for reasonable record-keeping.
• Analytics: Google Analytics is configured with a retention period of 2 months.

Third-party services

• Firebase Hosting for site delivery and security.
• Firebase Authentication for Group identity, with Google or Apple sign-in for authenticated V5 Groups.
• Firebase Firestore for Group cloud data and limited Golf usage records.
• Google Analytics for optional site usage insights if you consent.
• Email when you contact us.
• App stores for Apple App Store and Google Play listings you visit.

Delete my data

You can remove local data in the app from the Backup / Restore / Reset area by using Reset local data on this device.

If you are the Group owner, you can mark the Group deleted from Group & Sync using Delete group for everyone. This removes access in the app but does not immediately erase every cloud record.

Usage information: Signed-in Group activity can be associated with your Firebase account and removed where identifiable. Anonymous installation usage does not include your name or email, so we may not be able to identify it as yours.

If you need help deleting data or want us to remove remaining cloud data, email haylauapps@icloud.com with the app name, your group name if relevant, and a brief description of what you want deleted.

We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. The date on this page shows when it was last updated.
